Abstract

The discussion of love is always a hot topic when it is brought up as a topic of discussion. It is interesting to know whether the concept of love has qualities that liberate someone or whether love actually has qualities that bind. This research attempts to show its side to the binding nature of love. The word בְּרִית (berit) is used in this research to show that the covenant made by God with humans is a binding characteristic of God's love. Semantic research methods in various uses of Biblical narratives and interpretations help this research to understand the concept of the use of these words. Gabriel Marcel's philosophical thoughts enrich this research to show human existentialism in responding to the love that God gives to humans and the relationship that humans give to God. Berit provides the love that God gives to humans so that humans have hope and make God the only way out.
